How many years have you been in tech?

13 1/2 years

Tell me about your background. What were your early years like?

I started off as a Graphic Design student in college. I made some choices in my first year of college which led me to be a mom at the age of 18. I took 2 years off from college and then returned after my daughter was 2. Started back into the Graphic Design degree and then went to a conference at Wash U where Bill Gates was the guest speaker. That’s when I did some research and decided to switch majors to Computer Science with emphasis in Information Management. I had decided I could still use and apply my artistic/creative abilities in Technology. Also at the time being a single mom I would be in a better position to support myself and my daughter with a degree in technology.

How were you exposed to tech?

In college

What is your current role?

Senior Developer (Integration)

What are you learning right now?

I am going back to school for Graphic Design and Web Site Development so I have more assets as an employee and to hopefully be exposed to UI design and development.

What are your hobbies?

Art, baking, cooking and being with my family.

What do you like about St. Louis? The midwest? Why do you live here?

I think STL/Missouri has a lot to offer from ethnicity blend of cultures, food, outdoors activities, great place to raise a family, healthcare system and affordable to live.

Who inspires you?

My daughter(s) , people always say that we are teaching our children but I feel sometimes we can learn something from them so in turn they are the ones teaching us.
